Observium graphs 'No Auth'

After running great for several months my Observium box is now running slow and doesn't appear to be functioning very well. Graphs display as No Auth. Or just appear to not be collecting new information. Anyone have thoughts or experience with this?

Trouble Adding Windows Hosts To Observium

I'm having issues adding windows hosts to observium. I keep getting "host can not be resolved"

I've done a couple things to try and get naming services running correctly between the observium host and my windows network.

I've installed likewise-open on the observium host and joined my windows domain succesfully.

I've added an (A) record to my windows DNS server(s)

I've configured the SNMP service appropriately on the host(s) that I'm trying to get into monitoring.

I can ping each respective host to and from the observium host no problem. I can ping the observium host by name from anywhere inside my windows network.

Any help would be much appreciate.

Thans ahead of time.

SNMP v3 auth protocol issues

Hi

I have Observium installed and working well monitoring both Windows and Linux (Turnkey) hosts.

I am trying to add a new linux host but I just cannot get it to work. I have copied the working snmp.conf from a machine I am already monitoring to the problem host and still it will not work. This is not an Observium issue because I have tried using a MIB walker (which connects perfectly to the linux host already being monitoed, but not to the new host I want to monitor)

Can anyone offer any help? These are both basically Turnkey LAMP servers, both up to date with same the version of SNMP & SNMPD, as I said I have used the same snmpd.conf file on both, but Observium simply will not add it as a device and the MIB walker I am using says "authProtocol or authPassword may be wrong".

Am I missing something glaringly obvious here? I have scp'd the snmpd.conf accross so I know the file, is ok, and that the username and password are correct!

iptables -L produces the exact same output on both the working and non-working servers. I have other machines on the same subnet being monitored so I am confident it is not a routing/firewall issue.

So many tree's, I can't see the woods...... :)

Getting a LAMP server to participate as a device in the Observium tool.

Hello!

I have virtualized 32 TKL LAMP servers that I would like to monitor using the excellent Observium tool.

Is there anything I need to do to each LAMP before it can be found by Observium? Is there anything that needs to be prepped at the Observium server before I may add the LAMPS as devices and start to monitor each of them?

Any clues or pointers greatly appreciated!

Please advice.

Cheers,

Observium - can't add device

I have a problem with the last version of Turnkey Observium 14.0. It all goes well during installation and configuration but I'm not able to add a single device to the list. I'm not changing any file or setting... just right out of installation, I always receive the message "Could not ping ...".

Before that I was using Turnkey Observium 13.0 and it worked flawlessly, without changing anything after installation. I tested both versions on the same machine and always the same message "Could not ping ..." on the 14.0 version.

Any idea of what could be wrong?

Thanks

Observium tkl not showing graphs

I have HyperV so the ova machines don't work , or i haven't got them to work.  I installed th Observiumfrom iso, and it discovers and polls fine, the problem is that it don't shows the graphs.  If I took  a graph url and add &debug=1 to the end i get to see all the steps to generate the graph with the following warnings

Warning: fclose(): 17 is not a valid stream resource in /opt/observium/includes/rrdtool.inc.php on line 75

Strict Standards: Only variables should be passed by reference in /opt/observium/includes/common.inc.php on line 624

And to the end there is the image i am looking for, correctly rendered.   So maybe these warnings are send as part of the image and the browser finds it corrupted and dont show it.

I revised and php has dissabled the strict warnings, so they maybe because of the debug thry appear?

How can i get my grapds to show?

Hi All,

I am trying to configure my observium box to receive and then show syslog alerts for a Debian machine

Instructions:- http://www.observium.org/docs/syslog/

I have been able to get the logs to show up on the observium rsyslog server in a new folder named after the Debian hostname in /var/log

UPDATE: this is no longer transferring log, not sure why this stopped working

I followed the instructions for observium integration but no syslogs appear.

Any tips/suggestions appreciated and thanks for viewing

Observium is polling but not seeing any devices

Hey all, I just downloaded and installed Turnkey's Observium "app." It's installed and appears to be running but no devices have been discovered. I checked the Observium log and it's filled with these entries:

[2016/12/08 15:55:02 +0000] discovery.php(2010): /opt/observium/discovery.php: new - 0 devices discovered in 0.016 secs
[2016/12/08 15:55:02 +0000] poller-wrapper.py(2009): /opt/observium/poller-wrapper.py: polled 0 devices in 0 seconds with 1 workers

I can do an snmpwalk and view the information for the devices that are supposed to be getting polled so it's not a permissions issue. I thought it might be a configuration issue where Observium doesn't know where to look (what subnets) but I can't see a way to enter that information. I've Googled this using different search criteria but no joy. I'm going to keep looking but if anyone has something obvious that I've overlooked please let me know.

Thanks,

Joe B

No memory usage details or graph for my Cisco devices.

I have various Cisco devices ( catalyst switches, ios routers, ios-xe, etc), but none of them are showing any memory usage details in observium. I was surprised by this as observium did a remarkable job of recognizing and displaying information for things that most snmp tools do not, Qnap for example. It does recognize my Cisco devices and reports back on just about everything, but memory. Other tools I tried, such as Manageengine, PRTG, etc reported the memory with no issue. So, I'm skeptical that there is anything wrong with my snmp setup.

I would really love to get memory usage for my Cisco devices. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks

[Observium] Mounted Storage Device doesn't show.

$

Hi there. I recently installed Observium for our medium sized company to see long time loads and storage usage.

Now i stumbled across a major problem for our Owncloud server. As we are often using Network storages and alternative mountpoints we got a mounted device on.

df -h
Filesystem      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
udev            3.9G  8.0K  3.9G   1% /dev
tmpfs           799M  400K  799M   1% /run
/dev/xvda1      7.8G  2.8G  4.6G  38% /
none            4.0K     0  4.0K   0% /sys/fs/cgroup
none            5.0M     0  5.0M   0% /run/lock
none            3.9G     0  3.9G   0% /run/shm
none            100M     0  100M   0% /run/user
/dev/xvdf1      197G   57G  131G  31% /var/www/owncloud/data
/dev/xvdh1       50G   12G   36G  24% /mnt/cache

The storage on /var/www/owncloud/data is not listed in Observium at all.

A grep with an snmpwalk shows that informations regarding the storage are properly transported but ignored by Observium:

iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.3.45 = STRING: "/var/www/owncloud/data"
iso.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.8.1.2.15 = STRING: "/var/www/owncloud/data"

In the default.inc.php file are some configs where devices are ignored on purpose. Even after deleting all lines regarding ignore mounts:

 $config['ignore_mount_removable']  = 0; // Ignore removable disk storage
547 $config['ignore_mount_network']    = 0; // Ignore network mounted storage
548 $config['ignore_mount_optical']    = 0; // Ignore mounted optical discs
549
550 $config['ignore_mount'][] = "/kern";
551 $config['ignore_mount'][] = "/mnt/cdrom";
552 $config['ignore_mount'][] = "/proc";
553 // $config['ignore_mount'][] = "/dev";
554 $config['ignore_mount'][] = "/run";
555
556 $config['ignore_mount_string'][] = "packages";
557 $config['ignore_mount_string'][] = "devfs";
558 $config['ignore_mount_string'][] = "procfs";
559 $config['ignore_mount_string'][] = "UMA";
560 $config['ignore_mount_string'][] = "MALLOC";
561
562 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/packages/';
563 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/dev/';
564 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/proc/';
565 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/junos^/';
566 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/junos\/dev/';
567 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/on: \/jail\/dev/';
568 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/^(dev|proc)fs/';
569 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/^\/dev\/md0/';
570 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/^\/var\/dhcpd\/dev,/';
571 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/UMA/';
572 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '!/\.snapshot!';         // Netapp: dfFileSys.10:-->/vol/volssg2/.snapshot
573 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/dfc#\d+\-bootflash/';  // Cisco DFC bootflash is used for the crash files, always free
574 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/^DFC/';
575 $config['ignore_mount_regexp'][] = '/^\/run\//';

it still won't show in Observium.

Both servers are running on aws with a default ubuntu 16.04 without gui. Observium ist the newest version .

If anyone got a clue how to monitor /dev/xvdf1 197G   57G  131G  31% /var/www/owncloud/data help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Drees

DB Error 2002: No such file or directory [Observium Turnkey]

I installed and configured Observium Turnkey yesterday. Added several devices, it was working great. I've used Observium for years, but had always done a bare/clean install of CentOS, then installed Observium.

The system did an update last night at 9pm. Sent me an email. Looked like it was all great until I came into work this morning and now get this trying to access Observium:

DB Error 2002: No such file or directory

Argh!
